We are the Kindred Asatru of Jacksonville and Saint Augustine Florida.

Ancient Viking life revolved around a close-knit community, a deep connection to nature, and a strong warrior ethos known today as, Kindred Asatru, a modern revival of Norse Paganism. These elements of Viking society greatly influenced the modern practice of Asatru, a revival of the Old Norse religion. Both ancient Vikings and modern Asatruar share common values, including honor, bravery, and respect for the natural world.

Wheel of the Year 2024

Vikings lived in a harsh environment, where survival depended on strength and skill. They sailed vast distances, explored new lands, and engaged in trade and warfare. Community played a crucial role in their lives. Families worked together to farm, fish, and hunt, ensuring the survival of all. The Viking society was hierarchical, with chieftains leading clans and warriors protecting their people. Honor was the cornerstone of their culture, guiding their actions and decisions.

Religion deeply influenced Viking life. They worshiped a pantheon of gods and goddesses, each representing different aspects of life and nature. Odin, the Allfather, was revered for his wisdom and knowledge. Thor, the thunder god, was a protector and symbol of strength. Freyja, the goddess of love and fertility, was honored for her connection to life and death. The Vikings believed in fate, known as Wyrd, and the importance of living a life worthy of Valhalla, the warrior’s afterlife.

Modern Asatru reflects many aspects of Viking life and beliefs. Asatruar, followers of Asatru, seek to honor the gods and goddesses of the Norse pantheon. They value the same principles of honor, bravery, and community. Just like the Vikings, Asatruar hold a deep respect for nature and the cycles of life and death. They celebrate ancient festivals like Yule, Ostara, and Midsummer, which mark the changing seasons and honor the gods.

By following in the footsteps of our ancestors, we show our dedication to Nation, Community, and Blood.
